1. Jack MacDonald – Sneak Peeks at the Barn Owl Boxes
Jack is a long-time member of the Cascade Bird Box Team and his strong interest in technology led him to installing “spy cams” on the barn owl boxes that he helps build and erect, allowing us a glimpse into their lives as they mate and raise their owlets and the “kids” stretch their wings and learn to fly.
2. Peter Ward – The Opera Singers of BC
An expert on birds, Peter developed a particular interest in their songs, and wanted to introduce us to the birds of BC that, to him, have the most beautiful songs, hence his title “Opera Singers of BC”.
3. Thea Beckman – Digital Flash Cards – A new way to ID Birds
Thea is one of our newer members, both to the club and our Executive. She has a full time job but manages to find time to lead Saturday birding walks and led the walk at the Watershed Park Fish Release. As Creative Media Manager for an EdTech company, she’s using the platform she works for to create an educational tool for bird identification, and she’ll be showing us a little slice of what this could mean for people interested in learning about birds… fast.
