Seven Delta Nats met at Ladner Harbour Park – Bob, Mei, Lorna, Dottie, Christine, Jeff and Terry. There were Black-capped Chickadees and a Downy Woodpecker on the bird feeders by the caretaker’s house. We headed out along Shirley’s Walk. A Bald Eagle was taking branches to its nest before posing on a nearby tree. Someone had placed bird seed on the railings of the pedestrian bridges where Chickadees, Juncos, Song Sparrows, Spotted Towhees, Golden-crowned Sparrows and a Fox Sparrow were feasting. A Harrier, a Red-tailed Hawk, Mallards and Snow Geese flew over. Near the road bridge were House Finches, Juncos, House Sparrows, Robins, and a pair of noisy Steller’s Jays. In the river were Mallards and a Beaver.

Heading into the woods we added Bushtits, Ruby-crowned Kinglets, Flickers, Anna’s Hummingbirds and some mushrooms. From the viewing platform only Mallards and Canada Geese were visible. Back at the parking lot Chickadees and a Downy Woodpecker were still at the bird feeders.

Lorna and I drove along Ferry Road and walked on the path beside Windjammer Slough where we saw Cackling Geese, Mallards, Shovelers and Wigeon. A group of Wood Ducks was spread out on a fallen tree over the slough. There was a tree full of a mixed flock of Robins and Flickers. Red-winged Blackbirds and House Finches were in another tree. We heard and followed a Kingfisher which made a nice ending to the morning.
