With a rising tide and a 12 foot High for 09:12 at Crescent Beach, the group gathered before 8 AM to catch the shorebirds moving inshore. There were lots of Western Sandpipers closer in and Black-bellied Plovers a bit farther out with some Sanderling along the tide edge. Without a scope the identification of the

DNCB Outing No. 2022-35A to Brunswick Point, August 30, 2022
We started today’s walk at 7:30 am because the dyke at Brunswick Point is hot and shade-less. With shorebird season in full swing, we also wanted to catch the high tide at the far end of the dyke. In our usual DNCB well-organized fashion, my sign-up list did not seem to exactly match the participants

A small contingent of 6 (Pat, Manli, Lidia, Gabriel, Noreen & David) started at the parking lot and walked the road to the start of the Shirley Trail checking the slough for Roger’s Pied-billed Grebe from Tuesday that had been there as we drove in. About 08:45 we headed to Alaksen to meet up with the rest. A group of 10 intrepid birders (**see below) gathered at the Alaksen

DNCB Outing No. 2021-34A to Iona Regional Park on August 24, 2021
13 people met at 8am, and we walked to the beach. There was a group of shorebirds that we had trouble identifying. Photos showed them to be Baird’s Sandpipers. Caspian Terns were noisily fighting over a small fish. Birds seen on the walk to the gate to the inner ponds included American Goldfinches, Red-winged Blackbirds,

DNCB Outing No. 2019-42 to Brunswick Point
Nineteen DNCBers braved the windy and cool elements on what turned out to be a very pleasant and productive Tuesday morning outing along the dike trail at Brunswick Point. We saw lots of migrant waterfowl and shorebirds, and other good stuff; check out the photo evidence on our DNCB Flickr site. Some car-pooled from Petra’s
