DNCB Outing #2011-9 South Delta Ramble
Monday morning was sunny, relatively warm, and looked like the start of a great day for birding. Only five intrepid birders showed up at Petra’s; Lorna, Anne, Rick, Marg and Roger and we were all able to fit in Anne’s van. We started at the foot of the Tsawwassen ferry causeway hoping to find the Willet

DNCB Outing #2011-8 to Jericho Beach
An overcast and cold Monday morning with eight avid birders showing up at Petra’s: Anne, Lorna, Eleanor, Hans, Mike, Roger, and Marg and Rick recently back in town after an amazing trip to Costa Rica. Heading out to Jerico Beach we met Mary and Bill on our arrival in the east parking lot. Hardly out of the

DNCB Outing #2011-6 to Blaine, Wa
Seventeen birders joined me on a brisk sunny Monday morning across the Border to Blaine, Washington. They like their names in lights: our Guru Anne M, Accident-prone Annie K, Always-lost Bill & Mary and their beanied friend (sorry I forget your name), Roger never-trust-his-directions M, Roger’s affable sidekick Mike, Go-All-Day Lorna, the impeccable but often

DNCB Outing #2011-5 to Blackie Spit and Serpentine Fen
Ten birders (Roger & Mike, Lorna, Terry, Bill & Mary, Ansa, Marian, Annie K and me) spent a relatively productive Monday morning at Blackie Spit (Crescent Beach in South Surrey) and a not-so-productive morning at Serpentine Fen. It was cold early, but warmed up nicely. Did anyone else see the brilliant orange/red sunrise this morning

DNCB Outing #2011-4 to Minnekhada Park
Six weirdos (Roger & Mike, Lorna, Eleanor, Hans and Bill) joined me this morning on a miserable and unproductive, but enjoyable, Monday morning at Minnekhada Regional Park in Coquitlam. Hi-lites of the outing were: Lorna’s butter tart at Smoko, Hans’ inane conversation and that we survived. Bill’s photos are already on our Picasa site at

DNCB Outing #2011-03 to Terra Nova and Garry Point Parks
Thirteen birders spent a very pleasant Monday (Jan. 17) morning in Richmond at Terra Nova Park then at Garry Point Park in Steveston. We were: John & Kay, Rick & Marg, Bill & Mary, Ansa, Terry, Lorna, Anne, Roger, newbie Marian and me. Hi-lites included: many duck species in breeding plumage and up-close-and-personal including less

Birds on the Bay Outing #2011-02A in Boundary Bay Park
At 9:00 a.m. this morning (Wed. Jan. 12), Rochelle and I were alone at Cammidge House. An unusual heavy, for Delta, snowfall hit the Lower B.C. Mainland last night and this freaks out the locals. At writing this, it’s now 7:00 p.m. and the snow is nearly all melted away. However, Delta Nats first 2011
