Club Activities

Your membership with the Delta Naturalists Society unlocks a great suite of opportunities to discuss, explore, and support nature in and around the Fraser River delta with like-minded nature lovers. To keep a finger on the pulse of what’s happening, we encourage you to like and follow us on Facebook, where we regularly post about upcoming events.

Every week, we lead birdwatching and nature walks to many of Delta and Metro Vancouver’s richest birding spots. Our field trips take long, meandering walks through key habitats for hundreds of resident and migrating bird species and other fauna and flora. We also participate in many nature events throughout the year and occasionally organize multi-day field trips to birding hotspots located further afield in BC, Canada, and even internationally.

To view our upcoming field trips, check our small birding group sign-up sheet. Everyone is welcome to join but if you’d like to attend regularly, we’d encourage you to become a member.

  • On the first Tuesday of each month (except July & August) members gather for a meeting followed by a presentation
  • There are 4 quarterly, in-person-only social meetings, starting in September. The other 6 meetings will be on Zoom
  • The in-person meetings will be at Benediction Lutheran Church
    at 5575 6th Ave.in Tsawwassen and include a light meal
  • All meetings start at 7pm, with nature-themed presentations commencing at 8pm

Our weekly field trips, monthly meetings, and quarterly socials are just a few of the many events and activities offered by Delta Naturalists Society membership. We also arrange many exciting, fulfilling, and important nature initiatives, such as:

  • Building, erecting, and maintaining nest boxes for vulnerable local species, like barn owls, tree swallows, and bats;
  • Attending local festivals by staffing a display table filled with hands-on, nature-themed curiosities both kids and adults love;
  • Public education and outreach, environmental stewardship, and local conservation issues through our Birds & Biodiversity Committee; and
  • Protecting and preserving the natural beauty of the Fraser River Delta through donation-funded initiatives.
