PHOTO: Brewer’s Blackbird by Terry Carr…..
12 Delta Nats met at Centennial Beach in Tsawwassen on a lovely fall morning.

Around the parking lot were White-crowned Sparrows, Towhees, Starlings and Crows, but the Eagles have not yet returned. In the pond were Mallards and two Northern Shovelers. Large flocks of Canada Geese and Cackling Geese flew over. The tide was out so there was not anything to see near the shore. Near the playground were Brewer’s Blackbirds with their beady yellow eyes.
Walking along the dyke path we saw Savannah Sparrows, Yellow-rumped Warblers, House Finches, White-crowned and Golden-crowned Sparrows, Goldfinches, Robins, Cedar Waxwings, Flickers and Herons. Liz spotted a Lincoln’s Sparrow on the fence. There were 3 Killdeer and a few Green-winged Teal in the lagoon. We searched in vain for the American Avocet that had been there for several days. A Northern Harrier was sitting on a log on the far side of the lagoon. Farther out were flocks of Mallards, Northern Pintail and Canada Geese.
We met Debbi on the inland trails where we added House Sparrows, Bushtits, Anna’s Hummingbirds, a Purple Finch and a Red-winged Blackbird. Several Herons were perched high up on trees.
