Ten DNCBers met at Campbell Valley Regional Park in Surrey on a very pleasant morning – Roger 1, John, Lidia, Jacquie, Lee, Dottie, Bob, Lorna, Mike B1 and Terry.
The lush vegetation included many flowers and berries. David’s plant brochures and iNaturalist helped identify them. Lee pointed out some interesting slime moulds.
At the Listening Bridge, we were entertained by close-up views of male and female Black-headed Grosbeaks, Steller’s Jays, Song Sparrows, Douglas Squirrels and Chipmunks. After leaving the bridge, we tried to find a noisy Wilson’s Warbler. The patient birders had a good view of it. The impatient ones did not see it.
At the pond at the top of the hill, we saw American Bullfrogs but no dragonflies or butterflies. There were some bees and other insects that I tried to photograph. Again, iNaturalist helped me identify them.
