Twelve people met at the dyke on Thursday. It was a lovely sunny day, but Tuesday’s birds had not returned. We did see a flock of Greater White-fronted Geese flying by and landing on the sand among the Canada Geese. Two Black-bellied Plovers landed near them. Other flocks of Black-bellied Plovers flew past. They were identified by their black armpits. Flocks of other shorebirds flew by in the distance, and flocks of ducks and Canada Geese came closer.
A Northern Harrier circled above. In the bushes were Yellow-rumped Warblers and other songbirds. Since there were so few birds, I photographed some grasshoppers, wasps and hoverflies.
