Delta Naturalists Society

The following is a summary (of necessity, very short ) of the DNCB outing today. 🙂

Three very hearty, determined, birders, met today at the Second Beach Parking lot in Stanley Park.  After waiting a while, knowing the stalwart Delta Nats never cancel a scheduled outing, we three eventually set out in the bucketing rain, to see what we could find that also was enjoying the rain.  Erika and Tony Mordo and Donna Thomson braved the conditions and thoroughly enjoyed our misty walk along the seawall.  The birds sighted included many Goldeneyes, 1 Scaup, a few Bufflehead, approximately 6 Mallards, a Double-crested Cormorant, I Pacific Loon,  some Song Sparrows, 1 Flicker,  a flock of Black-capped Chickadees, and, of course, a flock of Canada Geese.  As our parking hour was up, we decided to call it a day and left to pursue some other fun activities with which to fill the day.

Oh yes, sorry Tom but none of us had a camera with which to take a photo…. ☺

Tom’s PS:  I will be at Petra’s on Monday, Feb. 17 for departure at 8:00 a.m. on a “local” outing to Alaksen Wildlife Refuge.  For those meeting us there, I expect to be at the Alaksen Office Parking lot around 9:00 a.m.  We’ll take the “back way” to Westham Island
