On Sunday, June 16, Delta Nats had their inter-active Display set up at Centennial Beach for the 13th Annual “Sunday in the Park” Fathers Day Pancake Breakfast.  This is a joint event organized by the Boundary Bay Park Association (formerly the Cammidge House Committee), the Tsawwassen/Boundary Bay Lions and Metro Vancouver Parks.  The weather was beautiful which meant for a large turn-out.  The Lions sold over 400 breakfasts.

We set up our DNS Display, under the guidance of Terry Carr, our very efficient Display Coordinator, among the trees facing the beach.  Our Display also included Cammidge House Committee info, and Metro Vancouver Parks Interpreters had their tent and inter-active stuff beside our tent.  Throughout the morning several Nats helped with the set-up (8:00 a.m.), manned/womaned our Display stuff, and/or helped with the tear down around Noon.  Our Volunteers along with Terry were: Joyce Manary and Boudi, Lorna Clements, Hans-Ulf Schellhase, Anita Den Dikken.  Several members of the Boundary Bay Park Association, who are also Delta Nats, also helped with our Display throughout the morning when they weren’t doing other Breakfast stuff.  These members are: Geof & Jean Hacker, Don & Rochelle Farquhar, Elizabeth Perrin and me.  So we had a really good team of Nats helping at this event.

And our Display was awesome.  Lots of kids, and adults, participated in our hands-on stuff, such as the Mystery Boxes, colouring sheets and Touch-Feely goodies.  Our Display is continually expanding and improving, under Terry’s direction and with new donations (e.g. Bear skin, Dragonfly larvae, Minke Whale bone, etc.) which Terry professionally labels and prepares Explanations.  Visitors can be entertained, but learn a lot too.  Check out more of Terry’s photos of this year’s event on our DNCB Picasa site.

The next DNS Display event is Ladner’s Canada Day Celebration (Monday, July 1) in front of the Delta Museum in Ladner Village.  Contact Terry to volunteer at this and other DNS Display events this Summer.
