Welcome to the Delta Naturalists Society (DNS) website!
We are a group of nature enthusiasts, birdwatchers, wildlife photographers, and conservationists located in the community of Delta in British Columbia; right in the heart of the Fraser River estuary, the most productive bird habitat in Western Canada. We welcome anyone interested in the observation, enjoyment, and protection of nature! Find us on Facebook here.
Why join the Delta Naturalists Society?
We engage in a diverse array of nature-centric activities, including:
- Regular birdwatching and nature walks 2 to 3 times per week;
- Monthly in-person and Zoom meetings (hybrid) with expert guest speakers;
- Quarterly in-person social evenings with coffee, food, and guest speakers;
- Monthly informative Newsletters;
- Opportunities to help with public outreach at festivals and events;
- Annual field trips to further destinations in BC, Canada, and abroad;
- Involvement in bird box construction, placement and care; bird surveys and eBirding;
- Working to protect and conserve the wildlife and habitats of the Fraser delta; and
- Creating information signs, nature brochures, and other educational outreach.
Additionally, the DNS is an active federated member of BC Nature, the provincial naturalists’ organization. By joining the DNS, you automatically join BC Nature’s 6,000-strong network of nature enthusiasts and experts, from communities across the province.
